Fonts for your web page

What font(s) do you want on your web pages? Maybe you are thinking about the style of your page? Maybe you have a special font on your computer you like? What fonts can you use, are best to use? The following are few rules of thumb.

  • For lots of text, sans-serf family fonts are easier to read.
  • Like too many different colors, too many different fonts make a page look un-professional and disparate.
  • For grabbing the eye, serf family fonts do the job.
  • For program source code, monospace fonts work best.
  • If the visitor does not have that font, they can't see that font on your page. The browser will just pick another font.
  • Some browsers can be set to force all text into a particular font.
